A Social Media Courtroom Is Not The Place

I am against EJK! Who isn’t?

I don’t want the police to kill (suspected) criminals unless it is warranted under the rules of engagement. If the police erred, then charges must be filed against them in the proper forum. And the proper forum is NOT the media —local or international— in order to erode public trust and confidence in the entire police establishment.

If our prosecutors fail to file charges against those who are clearly guilty of committing EJK, then appropriate charges must likewise be leveled against them in the proper forum. And the proper forum is NOT the media —local or international— in order to erode public trust and confidence in the entire prosecutorial establishment.

If our courts render verdicts that seem to favor EJK, then we must seek for remedies within our justice/legal framework to address this problem before the proper forum. And the proper forum is NOT the media —local or international— in order to erode public trust and confidence in the courts.

If there is evidence that the president and/or his alter-egos are suspected to promote EJK, then charges must brought against them in the proper forum. And the proper forum is NOT the media —local or international— in order to erode public trust and confidence in the executive branch.

THIS IS WHAT THE FRAMERS OF OUR CONSTITUTION DULY RATIFIED BY THE FILIPINO PEOPLE CALL DUE PROCESS!

And YOU —not this government— are the ones subverting due process by seeking political remedies outside that which our constitution provides, without proof that such constitutional remedies are in fact not properly functioning.

We, the people, see your evil intent, you little twits! We see that justice is NOT your real objective. Your real objective is partisan political victory.

We can see!

And that is why we are pissed!

  1. The cut and thrust of public debate is essential in a healthy democracy otherwise one is living in a dictatorship. Unless citizens express their honest held opinions, in public, for open scrutiny, then rumour and disinformation will be rife. Opinion must never only be in the hands of ‘one side’, it must always be open to challenge. In a democracy government must always be challenged if thought not to be operating within the law or within the spirit of the law. It is up to government to clearly explain its decisions and actions such that all the citizens understand them, however there is no right of government for everybody to agree with them.
